CSAPI

A község a török időkben elpusztult. A környező dombvidék jellegzetes klímája jelentette a mezőgazdaságból való megélhetést az itt lakók számára. A község különlegessége a XIX. század első felében épült kastély, melyet a felvidéki gróf Niczky család építtetett vadászkastélynak.

In Csapi leben heute 161 Menschen. I a ú j I a k aufgesperrte Thermalwasserschatz bestimmen.

The first written mention of the village is from 1325 as Chopi. Its base is the personal name of Csap of Hungarian origin which refers to that the first landowner was this person in the settling. The number of inhabitants is 161. The settlement was destroyed in the Turkish rule. The characteristic climate of the surrounding hills meant the living from the agriculture for the villagers. One of the sights of the village is the castle built in the first part of the 19th century. The castle has been built by the count Niczky family from the Upper Northern Hungary as a hunting-seat. The supply of the settlement with piped water, electricity and telephone is solved, the piped gas is being planned now. The future of the settlement and its surroundings could be determined by the thermal-water treasure exploited in Zalaújlak. The lakes in the valley between Csapi and Galambok are waiting forthe visitors wishing rest and recreation.
